Our media product has aspects of the synthpop genre
interweaved amongst the other aspects we have included in the product itself,
this has helped us create a unique media piece that challenges and utilises the
normal conventions of its genre.
The
synthpop genre usually includes music videos that have a fast pace, quickly
changing between shots to keep up with the pace of the song. They also use
shots that are irrelevant to the song’s lyrics and these shots are nearly
always concept based, emphasizing the unique image the genre has.
Our
music video utilises some of the features of the synthpop genre as it contains
many fast playing shots as a normal music video would, this helps to keep our
audience interested in our video. We also kept the main focus of the music
video being revolved around the artist himself which is commonly seen within
the genre. We challenged the normal conventions of the genre as we used little
concept based shots within our music video, focusing on narrative based shots
instead. This created a unique combination of fast shots to tell the story.
This keeps the audience interested in the video as a whole.
