Evaluation question 3

Our media product has aspects of the synthpop genre interweaved amongst the other aspects we have included in the product itself, this has helped us create a unique media piece that challenges and utilises the normal conventions of its genre.
The synthpop genre usually includes music videos that have a fast pace, quickly changing between shots to keep up with the pace of the song. They also use shots that are irrelevant to the song’s lyrics and these shots are nearly always concept based, emphasizing the unique image the genre has.

Our music video utilises some of the features of the synthpop genre as it contains many fast playing shots as a normal music video would, this helps to keep our audience interested in our video. We also kept the main focus of the music video being revolved around the artist himself which is commonly seen within the genre. We challenged the normal conventions of the genre as we used little concept based shots within our music video, focusing on narrative based shots instead. This created a unique combination of fast shots to tell the story. This keeps the audience interested in the video as a whole.

Digipak template

This is the template we are going to use for our digipak. We chose this template so we could show off our artist in different ways, whether its just to show the artist or to show something that can be used to represent him and the album e.g. a cake.

Digipak examples

These are a few potential digipak designs we are considering, they all have different aspects of design and appeal to the consumer in different ways. Some may appeal to different consumers who like different genres to our artists. When we create our own digipak we need to consider how to convince our target audience to purchase the digipak, we believe that each section should have pictures of the artist to make sure he is the main focus.

Music video previews

We have created three previews for our artist which have been used on our website to promote the music video. Two of the previews come from shots that were not used in the music video and show the artist acting casually, the other shows a part of the music video during post production which was later modified.

Artist - Bio

"At a young age I was influenced heavily by the music scene in Seattle and found a love for music. We went to watch Nirvana in concerts a couple of times in an intimate live performance with my dad I loved it and their music had a big influence on me throughout my life. Another big Musical influence on me whilst I lived in Seattle was the electric tea Garden which was a very underground café located on the outer edge of Capitol Hill's bustling bar strip of Pike Street. I went to this later during more of my later teenage years and I and my buddies became regular goers. This is where I first heard all different types of electronic music like techno, House. And this is where I found a love for electronic and knew that this is what I wanted to do. During my late teens I had to decide whether to move to London with my parents or stay and try to make a name for myself in Seattle. I decided to go to London. Having made a few songs in Seattle once I got to London I gave samples of my music out and by 20 the record label HYPERDUB contacted me and the rest is history."
